DL Artists Booth, [Hall 12 | 25 ] with works by Radmila Cesarska and Visuman.

RADMILA CESARSKA
Radmila Cesarska is a German artist of Jewish-Russian origin born in Moldova. Cesarska decided to become an artist at the tender age of two. During her school years she became a student of Prof. Rolf Glasmeier until his death in 2003. Between 2011 and 2020, Cesarska studied with Peter Handel, who is one of the most important hyperrealists worldwide. After graduating from high school, she also studied art and art education with a focus on painting at the University of Essen and the Düsseldorf Art Academy. The focus of her work is women and the feminine in all its facets. “I have never met a beautiful woman who hasn’t gotten away with at least one black eye in her life. There are still too many attempts to abuse beauty instead of enjoying and protecting it with respect and gratitude,” says Cesarska. Her models are women with poignant and profound stories. In her paintings she delicately and protectively unfolds their beauty and portrays all their grace and strength. Despite what they have experienced, these women shine in the light of timelessness in Cesarska’s paintings. They stand above the discrimination and violence they have experienced and are lifted into infinity through art. Since 2014, Cesarska has also been working on various interdisciplinary projects. For example, she set her poems to music with jazz musicians, made music covers and wrote a book of fairy tales and a children’s book about colours. In addition to her freelance work, Cesarska is also involved in art and education for children and young people, primarily young girls, from precarious backgrounds and tries to motivate them to pursue an artistic career. Radmila Cesarska is married to the jazz musician Florian Boos. They have a small daughter and a parrot. The artist family lives and works in Germany.

In Cooperation with GALLERY A&O
Artists Booth, [Hall 12 | 23 ] with works by Irena Paskali, Julia Murakami and André Werner.

JULIA MURAKAMI
Murakami‘s work series can be seen as a visual exploration into a lost and forgotten time. Seemingly frozen in a single moment either in stage-like settings or as a cosmos of odd creatures, the works showcase voyeuristic insights into a world anchored in the psyche. Here a reference to the Greek mythology and biblical topics, there the search for the bygone: memory, longing, dream, loss. With her characteristic subtlety, Julia Murakami confronts the phantasmagoric with the real world with a charming implicitness and thus creates visual flashbacks which simultaneously evoke alienation and familiarity.

IRENA PASKALI
Tradition has it that the bride should wear the dowry she receives in order to bring it into her marriage. These knitted garments were usually handmade by the mothers, grandmothers and aunts of the family. A large dowry usually meant that the bride’s family was wealthy, the bride came from a good background and was well integrated into society, so it was a kind of unwritten law and the responsibility of the women of the family to provide the bride’s dowry for the wedding. My grandma prepared a lot of knitted dowry for me. The project is inspired by my memories of my childhood, my home and my grandma.

ANDRÉ WERNER
By giving the images back their freedom, freeing them from their contextual constraints and giving them space, André Werner enables us to take a new look at our relationship with our images. Not only as a sign of respect, but also as an opportunity to actively shape the relationship with our digital doubles. In this sense, André Werner’s works become a strategy against the disappearance of the real. Matou de Marsalle
