In these times of cultural globalization Indian commercial cinema is gaining worldwide recognition. At the same time the Bollywood film industry is now opening up to a more Hollywood influenced film style and attempts to overcome its masala formula. In this climate of westernization there's a lot of enthusiasm amongst Indian filmmakers and audiences about a wider range of cinematic expressions alternating the Bollywood mainstream.

This screening has been made possible in cooperation with Mocha Film Club Mumbai and NoMasala, Germany, who are collaborating to screen Indian short films in India and abroad, so as to provide a wider platform for innovative and independent films and videos emerging from India

In Zeiten kultureller Globalisierung erfährt das kommerzielle indische Kino in den letzten Jahren weltweit erstmals größere Beachtung. Gleichzeitig öffnet sich die Bollywood Filmindustrie einem eher Hollywood beeinfußten Filmstil und versucht, die sog. Masala Formula hinter sich zu lassen. In diesem Klima der Hinwendung zum Westen blicken Filmemacher und Zuschauer in Indien mit großem Enthusiasmus auf eine immer größer werdende Vielfalt cinematografischer Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten neben dem Bollywood Mainstream.

Dieses Programm wurde durch den Mocha Film Club in Bombay und NoMasala in Deutschland ermöglicht.Beide Projekte arbeiten zusammen an Möglichkeiten, indische Kurzfilme zu zeigen und somit innovativen und unabhängigen Filmen und Videos aus Indien eine Plattform zu bieten.
